4th of July Show and Tell

Well, here is the 4th of July show and tell after all. DH Leo fixed my home computer. It is LONG, so if you're on a dial-up, you might just want to go get a cup of tea, or take a walk with the dog, because it might take a long while to get the pictures downloaded. Ok, have a seat, and enjoy...but remember; this is no Macy's parade...it is small town charm in all its hokey glory!

Kids in a home made fire truck is always a crowd pleaser. (I particularly like the garden hose hanging on the side...)

I'm not sure about what this car was all about, but it sure was cute...very tiny.

Some floats are political, others not...here is a pretty elaborate ship, that some college age looking kids came in...but there wasn't a single sign on the whole thing, so I don't think there was a message, just fun pirates.

Now here comes the boy scout float. (It was way too big for me to get the whole float in one picture.) This year it was like a  giant (not sure of the english word...maybe teeter-totter...) Anyway, half the kids on one side, half the kids on the other side of the contraption, swinging up and down.

You can see the diligent scout leader keeping a vigilant eye on the red light that they massacred last year. The light made it without a ding this year!

The pigeon is also a recurring favorite. It stops every few yards and does its pigeon-y duty of leaving bird poop on the ground...(I think there is a couple of cans of shaving cream inside that costume!)

The Statue of Liberty stilt-walker is getting older. This year she looks to be about 12 years old. She's been in this parade for several years, and is getting better every year. This time dad didn't have to be right beside her.

Uncle Sam in the Yellow Thunderbird is not to be missed...

Neither is the annual visit from outer space by the Klingons....(I've never seen their space ship though, they are always walking.)

Now the Ukulele Club was a great float (they are usually right next to the Articulated Beach Chair Association) but this time they had no competition. They were playing "MY only SUNSHINE" mostly in tune...There were over 20 of them!

With the whole range of costumes, from "strict red white and blue" (lady on the left), to "All Over Aloha"!

The local small engine repair shop came in this motorized canoe (with 3 inner tire life-boats with passengers in tow, that I didn't get to fit in the picture.)

And I don't know what these clowns were about, but they dutifully dusted us off with their dusters.

After the parade we went to Loch Lomond, a local lake (actually a reservoir - so no swimming) but it sure was peaceful and beautiful.

Here's one of the 4 poor tiny Bluegills that didn't have quite such a nice 4th of July. (But they all were carefully unhooked and released, and happily swam away!) I'm actually glad the guys didn't catch anything that I would have had to cook!

Joaquin loves to fish, and he found Grandpa's brand new fishing hat, a few sizes too large, he loved it, and was wearing it all day! I think he looks adorable!

We did watch fireworks after this, but by that time my camera ran out of battery. All in all a great day!
